The general layout of a modern mega yacht often includes owner or guest space situated near the water line. While the inclusion of windows is one way of taking advantage of the close position to the water, a sea terrace offers many more possibilities.
For safety reasons, windows located close to the water line are usually small, but a sea terrace allows the opening up of large areas, offering wide vistas and creating added deck space close to the water.
Sea terraces are bottom-hinged shell openings that are usually located in the vicinity of owner or guest areas. They not only facilitate panoramic views and increase deck space but, when located on decks close to the waterline, also serve as excellent landing areas for tender boats.
TTS sea terraces are built in closed girder design and are pressure tested as an assurance of watertightness. They are equipped with the proven TTS single lip seal, held with a stainless steel fastening bracket.
The surface of the sea terrace is usually covered with teak to match the style of the rest of the yacht. Bushings are supplied according to customer specification and are integrated into the steel structure of the terrace, giving a sturdy foundation for handrails.
Optional equipment such as lift-up cleats and sun awnings can be fitted to the sea terraces according to customer requirements. The integration of windows in the given overall yacht design is also possible. In lowered position these windows are usually fitted with teak inserts to create an uninterrupted surface.
As with all TTS yacht equipment, sea terraces are built with a percentage of stainless steel well above the normal. All exposed edges, bearing points and cleating mechanisms are made of high quality, sea water-resistant stainless steel. Larger proportions of stainless steel can be integrated upon customer request.
