Sweden’s TTS – Dry cargo Division, headquartered in Gothenburg and part of Norway’s TTS Marine ASA, has won a Letter of Intent (LOI) for the cargo access equipment from Finland’s Aker Finnyards, Rauma, for the ro/ro-cruise vessel Tallink III ordered recently by the specialist ferry company Tallink Group, Estonia (Yard No 435).

At 2,800 passenger-capacity and 212 m in length, she will be one of the largest such vessels operating in the Baltic Sea, and will be delivered during Spring 2006. Besides passengers, the vessel is designed to carry private cars and freight units, and will have 1,130 lanemetres, i.e. over a kilometre of vehicle deck space.

TTS Ships Equipment is to supply the following equipment::
· Two stern ramps and doors (port and starboard side)
· Bow doors
· Folding frame
· Four passenger doors (two port and two starboard)
· Two pilot/bunker doors (port and starboard)

All the cargo access equipment is designed to adhere to the rules and regulations of Bureau Veritas (BV).

The two hydraulically-operated stern ramps/doors give access to Deck 3 and are each of 11.76 m  in length. In the stowed position, the ramps will act as watertight doors - cleated hydraulically. Each ramp will have a driveway width of 8.4 m and a free height of 4.9 m. Load maximums, which also apply to the bow ramp are:

The hydraulically-operated bow door is designed in two sections, as part of the ship’s structure and as two door sections hinged to the ship with a partial joint in the centre line. The free opening with is 4.7 m and the height is 4.9 m. The bow door ramp, which is a TTS patent design – ‘Folding Frame’, is also hydraulically-operated and is 18 m in length with driveway width and height the same as the bow door.

The hoistable car deck is positioned on Deck 4 with the car deck ramps giving entry from Deck 3 to Deck 4.
